Grainlems - Caral Games

Grainlems

The First Grainleims

The world shook as the first Shears desecrated its natural laws and tore holes in gravity and time. From these portals came creatures thrice the size of a man, thrice the amount of mankind. They were a sea of horror and death, as their hunger for anything alive was insatiable. The people named them The Grainlem. Once they were struck, their immense bodies would crumble into particles smaller than sand, which would dissipate into the air only to form new shapes made from the nonliving environment surrounding these clusters of grains. Facing the unknown alien threat mankind had put aside their differences and unified.

Gemons

Led by King Jeiguem and Queen Galimem, otherwise known as The Kingpair, the human armies trapped Grainlem leaders called the Wrinkled.

During the Great War, the Kingpair fell together with the Wrinkled, whose grains were captured by tightly knitted nets to stop their resurrection. After a painful victory, the older of the Kingpair’s sons, Jaderem, disappeared into a suicidal chase after the remaining Grainlem, while the younger one, Galem, mourned for his parents.

In honor of The Kingpair, Galem cremated the bodies. But, to his surprise, besides ashes, the Grainleim particles were melted and fused with the remnants of their weapons and armors. The melted metal displayed an amber color. Galem used this matter to forge a sword, creating the first Gemon.
